We all know dogs are obsessed with food. No matter if the food is fresh or leftover. Their obsession with food is that they have different taste buds than humans. They have fewer taste buds than humans, which is enough for them to taste different flavors. Apart from these, their greatest advantage is that they can taste the meat more powerfully than us. Their specific taste buds pick up the different sensations of meat protein, and fat. They have an amazing sense of power. It is because the part of the brain they use to smell is 40 times greater than humans. Also, food is an INSTINCT for dogs, food plays the main role in controlling them. We think that dogs are always hungry but there is a reason behind it they have the hunting quality in them. In the old times, they have to constantly hunt because they never knew when the next meal be. This is why they are obsessed with food so much. Our pets are not aware of the fact that we live in a generation where getting food twice is in our regular schedule there is no need for hunting.


What are suitable fruits to feed a dog

Feeding dog meat is okay! But along with this, we must also feed them fruits because fruits are loaded with vitamins K, C, and B1 as well as potassium, copper, magnesium, and biotin. This does not mean that we can feed any fruit.

1. APPLE

APPLE

They provide vitamin A, vitamin C, and dietary fiber. Apples also help to keep your dog’s teeth clean every day and move the seeds and the core. One to two slices are fine but giving excessive apples can cause a stomachache or diarrhea.








2. BANANA

BANANA

This fruit is rich in potassium, vitamin B6 and vitamin C. Bananas are a healthy alternative to fatty or salty fruits.

Note- If you are providing bananas for the first time be alert for the sign of allergies.

Large dogs can eat one and a half of the bananas, but small dogs must be provided only two to three slices of banana.





3. CUCUMBER

CUCUMBER

low in calories and is a crunchy snack. There is no need to peel off the cucumber as most of the nutrition and benefits are in it. Cut the cucumber into small pieces when you give them to your dog. choking pieces can cause a choking hazard.









4. BLUEBERRIES / RASPBERRIES

great source of minerals and antioxidants. Blueberries can be provided every day depending on the tolerance of your dog and their size 8-10 blueberries each day is enough.

Not all berries are meant to feed your dog. The following berries can be harmful to your dog. This led to vomiting, diarrhea, excessive drooling, seizures, and breathing problems.

contains a chemical compound that prevents dogs from urinary infections. As it is high in antioxidants and fiber that keep your dog’s immune system strong. Excessive cranberries can upset their stomach.


Small dogs- 300 gm

Medium dogs- 200 gm

Large dogs- 300 gm

Giant breeds- 400 gm




7. ORANGES/TANGERINES/CLEMENTINES

ORANGES

These fruits are not toxic to dogs. Small dogs must not have more than one-third of the orange, large dogs can have the whole orange. As these fruits are high in sugar which may cause diarrhea.






8. PEACHES

PEACHES

great source of vitamin A and fiber. You can provide peach with its skin in small cut-up pieces. Peaches are not something that can be added to a regular diet just like kiwi. It can upset their stomach. Avoid preserved or canned peaches with your dog.














9. PEARS

PEARS

high in copper, vitamins C and K, and fiber, pear can also be served with its skin. But remove the stem and seeds.
















10. PINEAPPLE

PINEAPPLE

Raw pineapple in small amounts is no harm. But canned pineapple must be avoided because the syrup inside is too sweet for a dog.

Keep an eye on it while you provide pineapple to your dog because some are allergic to pineapples and excess pineapple can cause stomach problems.













11. PUMPKIN

PUMPKIN

You can add a small portion of pumpkin to their meal every day. It is good to maintain weight because it makes your dog feel fuller sooner. No more than 1 tablespoon of pumpkin is to be provided to small dogs and for large dogs 1-2 tablespoons.

Mangoes are full of vitamins. Skin and seed must be removed before it is provided to your pet. Since mangoes are healthy fruit but still only 10 percent of your dog’s diet is to be provided.







13. STRAWBERRIES

It is full of fiber and vitamin C, and it also has enzymes that help in whitening your dog’s teeth. Just like kiwi strawberries taste sweet so provide a control portion. For small dogs one strawberry is cut into pieces, medium dogs can have 2-3 and large can have up to 4.





14. APRICOTS

APRICOTS

It has health benefits such as improved digestion and lowered blood pressure. Don’t forget to remove the stems, pits, and leaves. It contains cyanide. Apricots must not be given not more than 10 percent of your dog’s diet.
















15. COCONUT

COCONUT

Coconut is healthy for dogs and coconut oil as it comes from the same properties. This is non-toxic to dogs, but it contains medium-chain triglycerides, which may cause some gastrointestinal upset and bloat.

A pinch of shredded coconut is more than enough if you give a large piece if a large amount is provided it can cause choking hazards and also upset a dog’s stomach as it has high fat and fiber.








16. KIWI

KIWI

It has more vitamins than an orange and potassium than a banana. It provides an abundance of nutritional benefits. As kiwi is sweet in taste so it is recommended to give it to your dog occasionally and not on daily basis. 10 percent of daily calories is the amount that must be provided. Kiwi is healthy but its skin and seeds are harmful.



17. WATERMELON

WATERMELON

Providing watermelon is a good idea but you have to be very careful when you provide them. If this fruit can soothe your dog in the summer season, it can also cause problems if any carelessness takes place.

Remove all the seeds it causes an intestinal blockage, cut them into small slices if needed, and also remove the

rind it causes gastrointestinal upset.
